"Darren first got involved in martial arts at the age of 9 when he began studying Wado Ryu Karate. After completing his final exam under Shihan Vernon Bell (the father of the British Karate Movement),he went on to study a number of different systems including: Kickboxing, Chinese Gung Fu, Wing Chung, FMA, Muay Thai &  Brazilian Jujitsu.
 
After reading the work of Bruce Lee, he became very interested in Jeet Kune Do (Way of the Intercepting Fist). JKD was Lee's personal system & philosophy.  After moving to California, Darren  focused on  Jeet Kune Do, training in the art under Sijo Lee's friend & student, Sifu / Guro Dan Inosanto (and in turn his top student Sifu Yorinaga Nakamura ).

Darren continues to train under Sifu / Guro Dan Inosanto.  He is also currently an Instructor in Jun Fan Gung Fu* under Sifu Atticus Todd at the Jun Fun Jeet Kune Do Grappling Association (founded by Sijo Lee's student Larry Hartsell) and a regular attendant at 'Chris Hauters Combat Base' in California."
